Yawning At The Abyss

Because the ultimate staring contest can get a little tiring.

Ryan Biden - The Final 30 minutes…

So, they are talking about Afghanistan and Ryan is sharing an anecdote.

Ryan says that he will leave by 2014, but doesn’t want to say that out loud because it projects weakness. Biden points out that 49 of their allies are committed to leaving in 2014. He says the only way to get Kabul and Bagdad to stand up and say that they are leaving.

Ryan explains what a fighting season is. I guess that isn’t really common knowledge, but it still feels like he is talking down to people. Ryan is trying to make a big deal out of something that Biden said that isn’t a really big deal. Biden says that for every US troop taken out of Afghanistan there was a replacement soldior from the afghanistan armed forces.

Ryan criticizes Obama for doing nothing in Syria. I don’t get how that is his fault. Ryan says that he wouldn’t try to go through the UN, and just do things. This irritates me.

Ryan is dodging a bunch of questions. He asserts that the US should only invade a country for their national interest. No humanitarian things.

The moderator asks about religion.

Paul Ryan says that he is against abortion because of “reason and science” and then goes to make a whole bunch of emotional appeals  I think that portraying himself as an intelectual is fantastically insulting.

Biden gets teary eyed, and says that though he is personally against abortion (as a catholic) that the government doesn’t have a right to tell women what to do with their bodies.

Ryan points out that he is being ideologically inconsistent. You heard me right. No one seems to understand that that is what happened though.

Biden actually does use fear tactics a little bit, when saying that two supreme court seats may be coming up soon, and that Romney will appoint conservatives, talking about Roe V Wade. Biden changes the topic of a question about Campaign tone to hammer Romney about the 47% thing (soldiors don’t need to pay taxes) Hits all his marks, and hits them well.

Ryan repeats his points as well, but in a far more obvious way. Honestly, it just isn’t his night. Ryan lies a lot and Biden isn’t telling him that he is lying any more, mistake. He could really do with some more punches right now.

Biden, in his response, demonizes Ryan and adresses a great deal of the lies. He sounds very dour.

Ryan says that the thing that he and Romney can uniquely provide the country with is honesty. HA. Biggest lie of the night, but that is besides the fact, considering the rhetoric of the night he chose his words poorly.

Biden says all the middle class is looking for is a fair chance, and that he and the president won’t rest until they get one.

Ryan has got a minute to fix things. He says that america has a big choice about what country they want, and that Obama has had his chance and he couldn’t do the job. Looks like that isn’t going to cut it.

Well, Biden wins. Looks like I am 0/2 in predictions. That means I’m qualified to be a pundit, I guess.
